A few years ago, I got really fed up with the sheets and blankets getting kicked off the bed. I began to think there must be a better way to make a bed, and that I had never seen beds made other than by tucking a bottom sheet in on all four corners, and going from there.
I decided to lay all the sheets and one blanket down on top of the bed before tucking anything in, and laid a 1x2 about five feet (the width of a queen bed) long on top of the blanket at the very foot of the bed. I rolled the blanket and the sheets around that piece of wood twice, and jammed it down between the bottom of the mattress and the headboard.
It worked pretty well for keeping the sheets from pulling out during the night, but it took a lot of time to redo when you changed the sheets.
So ... I changed the method. There are two knobs at the bottom of my bed. Now I spread the bottom and top sheets and the first blanket out on the bed and drape the bottom and the top sheet and the first blanket over those knobs. I tie them down with colorful gauze ties. Nothing dislodges those sheets now and the bed takes less than a minute to make.
